Prescriptions

   Minimize

If you are on long term medications, an arrangement for repeat prescriptions can be made after consultation with your doctor.

Repeat prescriptions can be ordered by several methods:

  • Post or hand in the repeat prescription to the surgery having ticked the boxes to indicate which medications you require
  • By telephone to the surgery
  • By using the online prescriptions order form on this website

The slip attached to your prescription has a reminder on how to use this system.

Collecting prescriptions

After you have ordered your prescription (and you have specified that you will collect it from the practice) it will be ready for collection at the reception desk two working days after 3pm (e.g. if you order on Monday, it will be ready for collection after 3pm on Wednesday).

If you specify on your repeat prescription request we can arrange for the prescription to go direct to the pharmacies listed below.

These are the pharmacists who collect prescriptions from us. If you want your prescription to be delivered to one of them please allow three working days.

Faxing or telephoning prescriptions to pharmacies can only be done in absolutely exceptional circumstances. We simply do not have the resources to do this other than in very urgent cases.

Similarly, we do not have the funds to cover postage of prescriptions. If you do want us to post prescriptions further afield then please provide us with postage stamps or stamped addressed envelopes.

In general the default position is that you need to collect your prescription(s) in person from our reception desk.

In the future it is hoped that a system of transmitting prescriptions electronically to pharmacies will be developed but this is not yet operational.

Medication review

All repeat prescription slips have a medication review date specified at the end of the slip. If the review is overdue you will need to attend for a medication review before we are able to issue any further prescriptions

Please return unwanted medications either to a pharmacy or to us for distribution to Inter Care. They will only accept medications with at least 18 months left until the expiry date, and no liquid medications please.
